SWEAR BLIND, the latest fiery alt-rock band to come out of Nottingham’s burgeoning music scene, are set to release their latest single, Give Up. This latest effort marks their 5th release.
Give Up follows an impressive splash into the scene during 2023 with singles Waster, Dancing With The Devil, Still and Hands, and touches on themes of self- doubt overcome by self-determination and a pure drive to proceed against the odds. Vocalist and guitarist Drew Lawson says “Will it pay off? Who knows? But the fun is in the journey – don’t doubt, just create.”.
As a band deeply rooted to the creative scene of Nottingham, having spent decades working, living and building tonnes of thriving relationships in the city, the 3-piece have been thrilled to collaborate with other local creatives on previous projects and live Swear Blind shows. The music videos for their earlier singles have seen the band working with friends and contacts locally to create both cinematically directed short films (Dancing With The Devil), and incredible animated cartoons and illustrations (Still). This time, they have turned to friends at the iconic and history- filled Nottingham institution, Rock City to create a fun and impressive video that makes use of the venue’s state of the art lights and Lawson’s prior experience of managing the production in the venue.
Since their inception during the global Covid-19 pandemic, the band have seen shining a light on the Nottingham creative community as a key part of the project, and were very proud to have worked with some talented friends and grateful for the support of their community. Lawson stated “We can’t express how appreciative we are towards everyone we know who has contributed to SWEAR BLIND in some way or another. We’ve been in awe of the support we’ve had from our friends and it’s been a wonderful experience working with lots of talented people that we get to call our friends.”
SWEAR BLIND will be returning to their spiritual homeland of Rock City later this year as they support Pitchshifter on their visit to the venue. First though, is their debut festival performance at the legendary and beloved 2000trees Festival in Cheltenham on 13th July, followed by a trip to the Netherlands to perform at Water Pop Festival in August.
“More than anything else as a band, we adore performing live together” said Lawson, “we’ve been mates and in various bands together for 15 years, and the energy & passion we bring to the live element of the show when we’re on stage together is something we want to share with everyone!”.
Recorded and Mixed by the amazing Carl Bown (Sleep Token/Bullet For My Vallentine/While She Sleeps) at Treehouse studios.
